Frequently Asked Questions

Residential Roofing

Good roofing contractors are:

  • Able to provide recent referrals and customers to speak with to get first-hand knowledge of working with Premier Roofing and Exteriors LLC
  • Contractors who only employ manufacture trained roofing and siding installers to ensure all works are completed in strict compliance with the manufacturer standards and specifications
  • Experienced.
  • Licensed in your area.
  • Insured. – current insurance coverage and zero lapses in coverage.  Carry a minimum of $1,000,000 base liability insurance
  • Bonded (which means that a bonding company has money available to a consumer in case they need to file a claim against that company)
  • Willing to write an estimate. – Professional roofing and siding proposals should be specific in scope of work and all materials, disclose anything that is not covered in the scope of work, all of which so it is very clear to the client what service is being provided and the timeline for the duration of the work. Pricing should be concise and include all associated costs with the project.

Typically most roofs if installed properly according to manufacturer specifications can last a minimum of 20 years and sometimes up to or longer than 40 years.

At Premier Roofing and Exteriors our roof inspections are extensive and complete.

We take into account the age of the roof system, the number of existing layers, flashings, HVAC curbing, seam edges, and other weak points to determine whether the roof can be serviced and repaired or it’s time for a new roof replacement.

The duration of the project when replacing a roof depends on factors such as pitch or steepness of the roof, roof penetrations or flashings, the number of layers of existing roofing being removed, and the degree of difficulty of the project.

For residential roof installations, most are completed within one week, for commercial applications it just depends on the size of the building and crew size on the project.

During the reroofing process for commercial or residential installations, the Foreman and Crew are trained to only remove the area of the roof that can be recovered or “dried in” at the end of the day to ensure a water-tight building overnight and during construction.

The client will be made aware of progress and percentage of roof completion during construction.

  • Low Slope:   TPO or PVC Single Ply roof system over Dens Deck coverboard for fire rating
  • Steep Slope:  Designer asphalt shingles with 130 MPH wind warranty

Replacing only a portion of a roof is not advised because the underlayment and flashings all tie together as one, to build the full roof system.

In some circumstances such as additions to a building or home, only part of the roof needs to be replaced or installed.  This can be done but it requires very special attention to detail to tie in the old section with the new roofing materials.

Our crew safety and job-site safety are the highest priorities for Premier Roofing and Exteriors.

There are many procedures and safety checks that the crew and Foreman perform in order to achieve job site safety.

Here are some of the standard practices and requirements to achieve job site safety and compliance:

  • Daily safety briefings at the job site:  Talk about weather conditions, the scope of work, equipment or tools required, and PPE
  • Ladder safety and tie-offs
  • Perimeter safety for roof edges, dump containers, and keeping pedestrians safe from falling objects
  • Signs are posted to inform pedestrians of the dangers around the job site
  • Premier Roofing & Exteriors uses magnetic rollers daily and at the end of the job to pick up loose nails or sharp metal flashings to keep children, pets, or vehicles from harm or damage

Payments on the project are typically 30% down and the remainder upon completion of the project.

Building permits, when required, are handled by the contractor, and all inspections are scheduled with the city the project resides in.

Premier Roofing and Exteriors uses only manufacturer-trained installers on all projects, residential or commercial.

In some instances, subcontractors are hired by Premier Roofing and Exteriors for specialty work such as gutters and downspouts.

To ensure crew sanitation and cleanliness, Premier Roofing and Exteriors always provide portable toilets to all projects throughout the entire duration.
